As the Magpies' striker scored a late equalizer, a fan stormed into the pitch to celebrate with the player, but things were very close to end in tragedy,

One of Newcastle's supporters was able to live the dream: celebrating a goal with one of his idols. But in the heat of the moment, things could've gone wrong for the team, as the fan nearly tackled Aleksandr Mitrovic while celebrating the player's equalizer against Sunderland.

Georginio Wijnaldum's cross from the right was sent into the back of the net by Mitrovic, giving Newcastle a point that could be crucial to avoid relegation. The Serbian striker removed his shirt and ran around the pitch when John West, a 35-year old fan, stormed into the fieldto continue celebrating. When he came close to Mitrovic, he slipped and almost knocked down the 21-year old, who picked himself up and hugged the fan.

Nevertheless, this tale will not have a happy ending, since John West has bee handed an interim football banning order, according to a report by Northumbria Police.

"Mr. West was handed an interim football banning order until his first appearance at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on April 6," can be read in the report.

The player thanked fans for their support via his Twitter feed.
