According to the Spanish news outlet, the Gunners have grown frustrated with the Frenchman, and may turn to his arch-nemesis as a result.

There are just some rumors in world football that are hard to believe: Lionel Messi will join rivals, Barca to sign Cristiano from Real Madrid, etc.

However, on Monday, we’ve been treated to one (outrageous) speculation that could even trump the aforementioned ones: Arsenal are ready to replace Arsene Wenger… and with arch-nemesis Jose Mourinho.

The Sun have recently reported, citing Fichajes as their source, claiming that the Gunners hierarchy have (finally) grown frustrated with the French manager and his inability to deliver silverware, albeit he has won back-to-back FA Cups.

Le Prof has come under heavy fire from the supporters, as the north London giants’ wait for their 1st English Premier League title since 2004 looks to continue, having all but lost the race to leaders Leicester.

The Special One remains favorite to take over Manchester United next season, with El Pais reporting that the Portuguese tactician has already signed a pre-agreement with the English giants.

However, despite Jose’s excellent track record of delivering success and silverware wherever he goes, he is yet to win over legendary boss and player Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton.

The two key Red Devils figures hold reservation over recruiting the former Chelsea boss due to his inability to nurture young players, a Man United tradition.

This hesitance over hiring Mourinho may be exploited by the Gunners, as written by the Spanish news outlet, as the Red Devils may stick with Van Gaal for the remainder of his contract.

Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger, Chelsea, Arsenal, FA Community Shield

Nonetheless, the idea of Mourinho taking over at the Emirates appears far-fetched. If Wenger decides to leave his post as manager, and that’s a big if, he’ll play a heavy decision in naming his successor.

In addition, producing young players is also a tradition at Arsenal, and Jose’s tendency to look over young talents – Lukaku, De Bruyne, etc – could be a deal breaker.
