The French striker, who could return with Real Madrid this weekend, has been left out of Les Bleus' upcoming matches due to his problems with the law.

French striker Karim Benzema could be involved in yet another problem off the pitch, as the player was interrogated over a money-laundering investigation surrounding one of his companies.

Commerce fund BH Event's is under investigation by French authorities over the purchase of a restaurant in one of Paris' most expensive neighborhoods. Benzema owns 45% of the commerce fund, which prompted authorities to interrogate the player.

According to French journal Liberation, Benzema was interrogated over this matter back in January, but given his other judicial problems, the investigation was kept under wraps until today. The implication of Benzema's company in the matter was discovered due to a number of phone calls between customs officers and drug-traffickers.

Benzema's absence from the French NT playing in the upcoming International break was one of the highlights of Didier Deschamps call up. Real Madrid's striker was allowed to return to the team after a court overturned a restraining order that prevented him of having any contact with team-mate Mathieu Valbuena, who was being blackmailed by one of Benzema's childhood friends. Olivier Giroud and André-Pierre Gignac were called up to compete for Benzema's spot in the lineup, with the player most likely missing out on the competition.
