The former Atletico Madrid man appeared to spit at centre referee Michael Oliver during the first half of Chelsea’s FA Cup clash with Everton at the Goodison Park. The incident happened a few seconds after the 27-year-old was booked for a foul on Gareth Barry. As the referee flashed the yellow card, the bullish forward took some steps back, and appeared to spit at the referee’s legs.
However, judging from the angle of the footage, it would be quite difficult to conclude that he actually intended to spit on the referee’s legs.
