45-year-old shot-stopper Edwin Van der Sar will help out his former youth club in this weekend's game against Jodan Boys.

Michael Jordan, George Foreman, "Magic" Johnson and even Pelé are among those athletes who decided to give their favorite sport one more try. Regardless of what reasons forced them to do so, a Dutch goalkeeper will follow their footsteps.

Former Manchester United shot-stopper Edwin Van der Sar will step out of retirement in order to play one more game with his former club. But before we let fans wonder why he will return to play for the Red Devils, we must clarify he will do so with his former youth club: fourth-tier side Noordwijk.

The two-time UEFA Champions League winner decided to help out his former youth club, currently depleted by injuries. According to the team's technical director, Peter Vink, Van der Sar seemed delighted to help out.

"After some deliberation, he agreed to keep goal next Saturday against Jodan Boys. We assume that it is basically only for one game, but we are thrilled that Edwin wants to help us in this way," Vink told Voetbal in de Bollenstreek.

Van der Sar won eight domestic titles while playing for Ajax and Manchester United. He also played 128 games for the Dutch National Team.

The team's exec also revealed that this kind of gesture from Van der Sar didn't come as a surprise to them, since the former Juventus and Fulham goalie has always kept a place in his heart for Noordwijk.

"He still thinks warmly of the club and is here regularly," Vink added.

Van der Sar played his last competitive game in the 2011 UEFA Champions League final against Barcelona.
