One of the most talented players included in any MLS roster will have to wait to make his debut this season, as Didier Drogba is still struggling to recover from his knee problems.
The 37-year old veteran's knees take a huge toll whenever the Ivory Coast striker trains or plays on artificial turf, and the club wants to avoid any long-term injuries to one of their stars.
Montreal Impact issued a press release today revealing the steps they'll take in order to facilitate Drogba's recovery.
"The Montreal Impact announced Monday that striker Didier Drogba will continue his preparation in Sacramento over the next few days, with Sacramento Republic FC (USL) and his physiotherapist. Due to swelling in his left knee when he trains and plays on an artificial surface, the club want to decrease any risk of injury," the press release states.
The former Chelsea striker played 14 games with the Canadian-based side last season. Drogba managed to score 12 goals for last year's CONCACAF Champions League runners up, although he couldn't take them all the way to the MLS Cup finals.
If Drogba's fitness allows it, he will make his debut in the 2016 MLS season facing Dallas on March 19th.
