The week 25 of the Primiera Liga is expected to be the most exciting as Portuguese giants Sporting CP and Benfica clash at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.

The most interesting thing about this Portuguese derby is the fact that the two fierce rivals are separated by only one point on the league table. A win for either side will take them to the top of the table, and of course, give them the much-needed bragging rights at the local scene. On the other hand, FC Porto are hoping that the two giants will settle for a draw. If the fixture ends in a stalemate, the Dragons will have higher hopes of contesting for the title, since they are only four points off the league leaders.

The Lions come into this match after being bundled out of the Europa League by Bayer Leverkusen while Benfica pulled a shocking win against Zenit St. Petersburg in the Bundesliga.

WATCH: Benfica reduce the gap between them and leaders Sporting CP

In their last Primeira Liga fixture, Benfica beat CF Uniao 2-0 while their rivals Sporting only managed to earn a single point from their visit to Vitoria Guimaraes. Although the visitors dominated the game, goalkeeper Miguel Silva kept them at bay by saving various efforts from Islam Slimani, Bryan Ruiz, Seba Coates, Hernan Barcos and William Carvalho.

Sporting CP approach this fixture with an impressive record; out of their last six fixtures, they have won four and drawn two. On the other hand, their opponents have won five and lost one. Benfica look stronger tactically and also based on their recent form but Sporting CP could bank on their home advantage to beat their city rivals.
