On Friday evening, two sides eager for Champions League football next season - Roma and Fiorentina - will clash at the Stadio Olimpico. Luciano Spalletti has brought about a sense of stability to Roma since making his return to the capital club earlier this year. Having won their past six matches, the Lupi have moved into third place and could temporarily close the gap on Napoli to just two points should they manage to beat Fiorentina on Friday. As such, the Italian tactician will likely use his best starting XI to clinch all three points as Roma will like to finish their domestic campaign as high in the table as possible and put some distance between themselves and Fiorentina.

Meanwhile, Paulo Sousa's men are already out of European competition after being trounced 3-0 by a high-flying Tottenham in the second leg of their round of 32 Europa League tie. The Viola will be coming into this match having held Napoli to an impressive 1-1 draw at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Monday and have not lost in the league since January 17th, when they were defeated 2-0 by AC Milan.
However, they have not been so impressive on the road. Since the start of 2016, Fiorentina have won only two out of their away fixtures and have dropped vital points against teams like Bologna and Genoa. The visitors lost the reverse fixture earlier this season, but were responsible for knocking the Giallorossi out of the Europa League last term and will be fancying their chances after going toe-to-toe with the high-scoring Partenopei earlier this seek.
Still, Fiorentina do not have a good record when it comes to facing Roma in domestic competition. The last time the Gigliati were able to defeat the Lupi in Serie A was nearly four years ago, when they edged them out 2-1 on April 25, 2012 at the very same ground hosting this Friday's fixture.
