French striker Anthony Martial came down with an injury while warming up for the Europa League clash against Midtjylland, forcing LVG to change his squad.

It wasn't all good news for Manchester United after their 5-1 win against Midtjylland on Thursday, as 20-year-old striker Anthony Martial left the pitch with a hamstring injury. The French player, who joined Man United last summer, will be left out of the squad facing Arsenal next Sunday as a precaution, as coach Louis Van Gaal told BT Sport.

"Anthony can be tired. He's only 20 and he's played all the matches so it's not so remarkable. He stepped down himself and that I like very much. It should be his first muscle injury since arriving at the club," Van Gaal stated.

Martial's injury leaves Manchester United's squad quite depleted, as the Frenchman joins a long list of players sidelined with physical problems. Wayne Rooney, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Chris Smalling and Marouane Fellaini will surely miss this match, while shot-stopper David de Gea could make it just in time to guard the team's net.

The Dutch coach revealed that he doesn't believe Martial's injury to be serious, but if he ends up playing, the risk of having him away for a very long time could increase.

"He was smart and wise to step out. It is not a rupture or anything like that. A tight hamstring. I don't think it is very heavy," Van Gaal added.

During his maiden season with the club, Martial has scored seven goals in 20 outings for the Red Devils in Premier League games. He scored a couple more while playing the UEFA Champions League, and he added one more to his name in the League Cup.
