The Brazilian defender has been playing with Los Blancos despite a left-shoulder injury and a muscular complaint, which kept him out of the pitch for more than a month.

Zinedine Zidane will not have his full squad available for the crucial tie against Atlético Madrid, as one of his key performers seems to be struggling with fitness issues.

Brazilian defender Marcelo did not complete today's training session with Los Blancos, after apparently suffering a relapse from a muscular injury that kept him away from the pitch for six weeks. The South American left back had been struggling with a left shoulder injury for the past few weeks, only to find out his presence in this weekend's Madrid derby is doubtful.

With this setback, the French boss could be forced to start Dani Carvajal as a left back, while Danilo looks over the right flank.

But it wasn't all bad news for Zidane today, as Karim Benzema returned to the team's training sessions on the pitch. The French international was left out of the team's most recent games against Roma and Málaga, and his presence will surely be appreciated by Real Madrid.

Both players will undergo evaluations tomorrow to determine their availability for Saturday's game.
