The Dutch champions want to continue shocking Europe when they host Atletico Madrid, a team that will make a run for its second final in three UCL seasons.

The UEFA Champions League knockout stage continues on Wednesday with a host of interesting matches. Philips Stadion will witness PSV Eindhoven's return to the final round of the UCL when they host Atletico Madrid, a team that's proved its worth when facing Europe's finest.

PSV Eindhoven made it to the knockout stage as runners up in Group B, eliminating Manchester United in the process. On the other hand, Los Colchoneros won Group C ahead of Benfica, Galatasaray and newcomers Astana.

PSV Eindhoven

The Farmers were given a huge morale boost less than 24 hours before the match, as one of their most influential players made it back in time to play this game. Mexican midfielder Andrés Guardado will be available for coach Philipp Cocu, although the former Deportivo La Coruña player will have to behave himself, since he is one booking away from missing the second leg of this series.

Cocu's only absences for Wednesday's clash will include Maxime Lestienne (injury) and Luuk De Jong(suspended).

Atletico Madrid

Los Colchoneros have totally transformed when playing European football games since Diego Simeone took over as their manager. The Argentinean's combative spirit has given his players the drive to succeed, and this will be a good opportunity to show their willingness.

Simeone won't have a couple of players available for the first leg of this tie, as Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco and Thomas Partey weren't able to recover from their respective injuries. Recent signing Augusto Fernández was able to recover from a knee injury, and will be able to deputise in midfield if Simeone believes he's fit for the challenge.

Head to head

These teams have played two games against each other in this tournament, and PSV must have some bad memories about it. During the 2008-09 Champions League season, Atletico and PSV played against each other in the Group Stage, with Los Colchoneros winning both games, including a 3-0 win at Philips Stadion.
