Manchester United fans at Old Trafford had their chance to witness history in the making, as Louis Van Gaal's team went to the half time break with a two-goal lead. What they may have missed is that Lingard's opener and Martial's follow up goal were the first 1st half shots to find their way into the back of the net for the past eleven games played by the Red Devils at home.
Van Gaal's crew has made a habit out of disappointing its fans when it comes to home games, with baffling displays such as last week's against Southampton. Nevertheless, things turned out to be a bit different when Lingard and Martial scored for the English giants.
Here are some reactions some sources shared on Twitter.
