Fans of Spanish football are gearing up for yet another epic clash between two perennial rivals, FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

La Liga defending champions FC Barcelona welcome their rivals Atletico Madrid in what is expected to be a cracker of a match. Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, but sides need nothing less than a win in order to take full control of La Liga table over the weekend. Both teams are tied on points (48) but the Blaugrana have a superior goal difference.

Luis Enrique’s men come into this fixture with a better record against their rivals at the Nou Camp. Barca have won all their last five matches against Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou and they would want to extend the impressive record to a six-match unbeaten run. The last time Diego Simeone’s men beat The Catalans at the Nou Camp was back in February 2006.

Atletico come into this fixture having being eliminated from the Copa del Rey after losing 2-3 to Celta Vigo at home on Wednesday night. This was the first time they were conceding three goals in one match at their backyard since losing 2-3 to Barcelona in January 2015. Sadly, the 2014 La Liga winners have not won a match in their last three fixtures in all competitions.
