Spanish news outlet Onda Cero recently dropped a transfer rumor bombshell, claiming that Barcelona superstar Neymar held secret talks with Real Madrid over a Santiago Bernabeu switch.
The Brazilian ace, who was in Zurich at the time for the 2015 Ballon d’Or gala, reportedly met Los Blancos lawyers with his father, Wagner Ribeiro and Andre Cury over a possible move.
Although this incident was labeled as a move to garner the upper hand in contract discussions over a wage increase, the player’s father was quick to deny a meeting ever occurred, labeling it as a “silly invention”.
According to Neymar Sr., the Selecao skipper merely stayed at the same hotel as the Real Madrid representatives, whilst also insisting that talks could not have been possible with Blaugrana agent Cury present.
"The meeting in Madrid is a silly invention,” said the Brazilian ace’s father.
Neymar (celebrating his goal vs Athletic Bilbao) is going nowhere, says his father
"We were all together in the same hotel, the Barca and Madrid parties, and we greeted everyone, but the meeting is an invention."
"Andre Cury is a Barca employee, so how are we going to meet with Madrid if he was there? It does not make any sense!"
Neymar’s current deal with the Catalan giants ends in three years time, and despite rumors linking him with their Liga BBVA rivals and English giants Man United, his father stressed the 23-year-old’s desire to remain at Camp Nou.
"We have a contract here until 2019," Neymar Sr. added.
"Neymar is happy here and his will is to renew his contract at the end of the season. We are a bit fed up with this and just want to live in peace and enjoy the moment with Barcelona."
