The Mexican striker believes that, despite appearances, the Dutch boss was only doing his job when he told him to look for another team last summer.

After a pretty successful first half of the season with Bayer Leverkusen, Mexican striker Javier Hernández has left in the past his complicated stint as a Manchester United player under coach Louis Van Gaal. "Chicharito" revealed in an interview he holds no hard feelings against the Dutch tactician, even if he once told him he had a "1% chance" of earning a spot in the Red Devils' starting lineup.

"It was nothing personal but every coach has his own plan. When people criticise Van Gaal, that's their opinion. I'm pleased that people think I could have stayed there longer. I had four great years in Manchester, I was champion twice," Hernández stated.

The Mexican striker has been a huge succes with Bayer Leverkusen this season, scoring 19 goals in 22 games, while Manchester United's attacking unit has struggled quite a bit to score goals.

After such a successful run with Die Werkself, Chicharito's nickname has emerged as a potential transfer target for some Premier League sides such as Chelsea and Arsenal. Even if he Mexican international is currently living one of the finest moments in his career as a Bundesliga player, he refused to rule out a move back to the EPL.

"In this sport, it doesn't matter if you sign for 10, 12 years or if you extend by one season every year. Everything can change after six months. I'm happy to be at this great club, and my only goal as of now is to play a very good second half of the season," Hernández concluded.
