The Bayern Munich forward signed a new contract that keeps him at the club until 2021.

Muller joins four other stars who have signed new contracts with the Bavarians. Before penning a new deal, the World Cup winner had been long-time transfer target for English Premier League side Manchester United. Other players who have extended their contracts with the German giants include Jerome Boateng, Xabi Alonso and Javi Martinez.

However, their head coach Pep Guardiola is said to be on his way out of the Bundesliga giants by next summer. Reports from Germany and Spain suggest that the decorated tactician could join Manchester United, Chelsea or Man City if he decides to move to England.

Speaking moments after the contract extension, club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said:

''We are delighted to have signed long-term deals with these important players.’’

'’Thomas, Jerome and Javi know how to win titles and the Champions League as well. With them the team maintains its quality and stability in the long term.'’

When asked whether he had made a decision about his next destination after Bayern, Pep Guardiola said:

'Rummenigge and I have said that we will talk after the game (against Hannover). He knows everything and we talk often.’’

This season, Muller has scored 13 goals for the German outfit in 16 appearances and provided three assists.
