The Confederation of African Football has revealed the top three contenders for the African Player of the Year.

The three nominees are namely Ghana’s Andre Ayew who plies his trade for English Premier League side Swansea FC, Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang who plays for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Cote d’Ivoire international Yaya Toure, who also plays for Manchester City.

CAF released the list during a press conference held in Abuja, Nigeria, on Monday 14, December 2015. The press briefing was graced by CAF Executive member Anjorin Moucharafou and Glo representatives. 

Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast won the CAF Player of the Year Award in 2014 while Aubamenyang came second Yaya Toure won the CAF Player of the Year award in 2014

The African football governing body also released the list of nominees for the African Player of the Year-Based in Africa. The top three contestants are Algeria’s Baghdad Boundjah who plays for Etoile du Sahel, Tanzania’s Mbwana Aly Samata who plies his trade for TP Mazembe and his club mate Robert Kidiaba of DR Congo. 

The votes will be gathered from Head Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to the Confederation of African football. The winner will be announced during the Glo-CAF Awards Gala to be held on January 7, 2016.
