Bayern Munich wants to get back to its winning ways after losing last week's game against Mönchengladbach. The Bundesliga leaders hope that it can be possible against a team that has only won two of their last eight games, finding three draws in the span of those games.
Bayern Munich Preview
The Bavarian side knows that their first place is not threatened in this game, but that Borussia Dortmund closed the gap between the two teams, putting some pressure on the leaders of the league that in case of a loss are within striking distance for Dortmund.
In a press conference, Pep Guardiola announced that Arjen Robben will be missing his fourth consecutive game due to muscular problems. The 31-year old Dutch player has only played in seven of the 15 games this season. He has a record of three goals, one assist and 21 shots during that time.
Bayern's Champions League Game against Dynamo Zagreb also took a toll on some important players. Former Ballon d'Or nominee Frank Ribery suffered a muscle strain in that game and is out for the rest of the year. His teammate Medhi Benatia picked up a tigh strain that will have him out for this Saturday's match.
The team managed by Pep Guardiola has won all of their eight games at home so far. The fact that the game will be played at their own Allianz Arena, should give Bayern a reason to believe they can avenge last week's defeat.
So far, they have the best offense in the league with 43 goals in 15 games and conceded eight. Bayern will face a team that has only scored 11 and that has receivd 15. That makes them clear favorites for this match, where the first place in the Bundesliga will go head to head against the 11th place in the table.
Ingolstadt Preview
Ingolstadt knows this is a fight between David and Golliat, but just in like that story, the little boy defeated the big man and this team hopes to do the same and shock the world by beating Bayern Munich at their own stadium.
In their first and only experience facing Bayern, Ingolstadt lost 6-0 over three years ago in the DFB Pokal. Now, it is the first time that the two sides will be facing each other in a league game with not that many players left in the roster of that Ingolstadt team from three years ago.
Five draws so far have been part of the key for this team to stay away from the relegation zone as the league is quickly approaching its halfway point. They are a team that likes to fight and even more when the opponent is ranked in the top spots. Teams like Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 have not been able to defeat Ingolstadt.
While either winning or losing does not affect Bayern Munich's place in the table, their opponent can definitely make a big statement with a win. Earning three points at Allianz Arena could give Ingolstadt the chance of climbing up to sixth place with a combination of several results, but the possibility is there.
Their manager believes that the key to success against Guardiola's team is to not allow any early goals. The longer they can keep a clean sheet, the more chances they will have of being dangerous in a counter-attack when Bayern players start applying extra pressure as the clock winds down.
