However, the linesman raised the flag to indicate that the goal was offside, but several replays and images from analysts proved otherwise. Some videos and images doing rounds on social media show that, in fact, Moreno was clearly onside by the time the pass was released from midfield.
Fans on Twitter expressed their anger at the referee’s decision to cancel the goal but there was nothing they could do about it. The match ended 2-0 in favour of the hosts, who have been struggling at the bottom quarter of the table for the better part of this season.
