The Spanish coach was booed after his name was announced at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

After yet another complicated week for Real Madrid under Rafa Benítez, the Spanish boss took the blame as Los Blancos' supporters jeered once his name was announced.

The under-fire coach has not been able to give fans the team they want to watch, and their performance against Barcelona a couple of weeks ago, followed by their Copa del Rey elimination for starting Denis Cheryshev when he had to serve a one-match ban, ended up bringing all the heat in Benitez's direction.

His complicated relationship with some of the team's captains has also been a matter of concern, followed by Marcelo's complaint on social media for missing today's game against Getafe.

In fact, the coach had to explain why he decided to drop Marcelo from the squad that played today.

"The team's medical staff told me he wasn't fit to play. It would've been risky to have him play, we only want what's best for our players, and we feel he should be fit to play during our Champions League game this week," Benítez told the press.

About the crowd's reaction after his named was called out in the stadium's speakers, Benitez remained calm. "We have the utmost respect for our fans. All we want to do is to improve our game over the course of the season," the coach stated.

Real Madrid's next game will be against Villarreal, one of the most in-shape teams of the Spanish top flight.
