Fenerbahce’s Robin Van Persie confirms he will not join Chelsea or Barcelona

The Dutch striker had been linked with a possible move to Spain or England during the January transfer window. In a bid to rub off the rising speculation over his future at the Turkish club, the 32-year-old told Turkish-football.com:

"There is a lot of talk about Chelsea and Barcelona but I have received no offers and I am dedicated to Fenerbahce."

Regarding the transfer rumours doing rounds in various media houses, Fenerbahce boss had earlier insisted that he had not received any transfer request from any club interested in the former Manchester United man. Speaking to the media, he clarified:

"I have no information about a transfer. I am pleased with him (Robin Van Persie)."

Earlier this season, the talented forward was involved in a spat with Fenerbahce boss Vitor Pereira. Although the Portuguese tactician had confessed that there was tension between him and the player, he explained that it was ‘'healthy’’ in the game of football.

The two were said to be arguing on the touchline before Van Persie was introduced in the 77th minute in the 2-1 victory over Bursaspor back on September 20. A similar incident occurred when the Turkish club lost 3-2 to their bitter rivals Besiktas. However, in the past few weeks, the two seem to have solved their personal issues.
