Both Rooney and Martial missed Manchester United’s away trip to the Vicarage Road Stadium to face Watford last weekend.

English Premier League giants have received a major boost ahead of their Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday. Both Martial and Rooney have resumed training ahead of the crucial fixture that gives Manchester United the perfect chance to cement their position at the top of Group B.

However, the Red Devils will miss the services of key players such as Phil Jones, Ander Herrera and Bastian Schweinsteiger, who was instrumental for United by forcing in a last-minute winner against The Hornets last weekend.

Former Everton man Marouane Fellaini, who has not played the last two games for Man United, also resumed training with the senior team. Other senior players in the injury list at Old Trafford include Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick, who has an ankle injury sustained during England’s friendly match against Spain.

Consequently, United boss Luis Van Gaal picked several players from the junior team to train with the seniors at the AON Training Complext ahead of the home game against the Dutch champions. Some junior players who were available during the training session include Regan Poole, James Weir, Nick Powell and Guillermo Varela. If United win this fixture, they will qualify for the last round of 16. PSV beat Man United 2-1 in Netherlands in the first leg of the fixture when Luke Show picked up a horrific injury.
