Chelsea are doing the best they can to retain some of their star players before the January transfer window officially opens.

According to The Standard, Chelsea star Willian has been offered a new £100,000 a week deal to keep him at the English club until 2020. However, the player is yet to officially sign the new deal.

Currently, the Brazilian earns £80,000 a week but the Blues seem to be worried about the growing interest in his services both in England and Europe. The defending champions signed the 27-year-old from Russian outfit Anzhi Makachkala for £30 million back in 2013 and has since shown some moments of brilliance, especially through his set pieces for the club.

Willian had generated the interest of top clubs such as Bayern Munich and big-wigs Paris Saint-German. The two clubs were planning to take advantage of the alleged massive exodus of players from the West London club in January.

The midfielder arrived at Chelsea when the notorious Jose Mourinho hijacked his move to Tottenham Hotspur in a dramatic fashion that was almost similar to Pedro’s failed move to Old Trafford. This season, he has made 12 appearances for his club in the league and featured in the Champions League four times. He has two Premier League goals this season.
