The USMNT opened the qualifiers with a 6-1 win ove St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Trinidad beat Guatemala 2-1 on the road.

The United States Mens National Team came back to their winning ways against St. Vincent and the Grenadines with a 6-1 score but will now face Trinidad and Tobago on the road for a more fair challenge. While Jurgen Klinsmann's team is still the favorite, Trinidad does not want to see themselves as the underdog.

Jurgen Klinsmann came into his first WCQ game with the pressure increasing day by day. He had failed to get the U.S. into the Confederations Cup and the team was on a two-game losing streak. This has probably been Klinsmann's toughest year leading the USMNT since taking control in 2011 but believes there is a master plan.

The German manager has transformed the roster of the national team, giving younger players  bigger chance to shine. Two big names that got their first minutes against St. Vincent were Matt Miazga and Darlington Nagbe. For the later one, it has been less than three months since he got his U.S. Citizenship papers.

The biggest absentee from this list was Clint Dempsey. While he is already out of the MLS Playoffs, he has not retired from the USMNT, considering he has been left out of Klinsmann's list in several occassions lately. The veteran that is leading this team is Michael Bradley. 2014 had been a good year for both, 2015 not so much.

Even in a 6-1 game, there were some clear takeaways for the German coach. Klinsmann claimed he liked the way that his team is working together. The environment that surrounds the USMNT at this point is something that needs to be carried on for future games.

While they suffered an early scare by receiving the first goal of the game in the first five minutes, the team recovered. They started fixing the issues that had cost them the goal and went on to score six goals, including a brace from Jozy Altidore. The team knows that early mistakes like that one could be more costly against Trinidad.

Trinidad and Tobago has been one of the pleasant surprises this year in the CONCACAF area. They started the WCQ they way they wanted to, beating Guatemala 1-2 on the road, hoping to keep the momentum going against the second best team in the confederation according to FIFA Rankings.

The Carribean side is known for being a very physical team, very explosive when it comes to long balls and also likes to keep attackers and rivals uncomfortable, not letting many open spaces. They have several tall players that can use their head with precision and that could make a difference in set pieces.

There may be many good things said about Trinidad but the truth is that they have struggled lately. Out of their last eight games they have only won two. They have not played at home in a very long time, so coming back could be the motivation this team needs in order to defeat a team who has a 17-3-3 record against them.
