Manuel Pellegrini's men picked a 2-1 win over Sevilla in their last Champions League encounter courtesy of a late strike from Kevin De Bruyne. Another victory for the Citizens coupled with a win for Juventus over Borussia Monchengladbach would see the Premier League leaders qualify for the next round of the tournament.
City however have failed to once again showcase the same supremacy which they do in the domestic events. Man City's expansive brand of football has often left them exposed at the back. However manager Manuel Pellegrini has maintained that he will stick to his attacking philosophy and will be looking for a win when his side faces Sevilla.
"I think it’s very important for the team to try to win because, depending on what happens in other game, we could be in the next stage,” he told reporters.
“It’s a benefit to qualify as soon as you can – it’s not easy to do it two games before the end. If we do it, in the same way you must qualify, you must fight to qualify in first place.
"If we have a good result tomorrow, we must then try to win the group in our remaining two games.
“This team is not prepared to try to draw – we won’t start the game and think it’s good to just get a point.
"Of course if you can’t win, a draw is better than losing but if you start thinking a draw is a good result, you’ll normally lose."
"We've come from behind and won games with players injured and while the team has been criticised - that demonstrates character and spirit.
“As a team, we are in a very strong moment and I hope we can improve further when we recover important players from injury.”
Sevilla on the other hand are sweating over the fitness of playmaker Ever Banega who is doubtful with a knee injury, with striker Kevin Gameiro already ruled out of the match. Fernando Llorente who scored in the 2-1 victory over Villarreal is poised to lead the line in the Frenchman's absence. Ciro Immobile may also be in contention for selection having failed to make it to the squad in Sevilla's last three matches.
City on the other hand have a growing injury list as well and will be without the likes of Sergio Aguero, Samir Nasri, Fabian Delph, Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy. David Silva is close to regaining fitness but Tuesday's match might come too soon for him.
