The Premier League leaders come into this match in red hot form having scored 11 goals in their last two matches. The Citizens were without star striker Sergio Aguero in their last match against Bournemouth but there was no shortage of goals as big money signing Raheem Sterling rose to the occasion scoring a hat-trick for his new side.

Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony also scored a brace which will do his confidence wonders after a slow start to life at Manchester City.

They will now be against a Sevilla side which has produced below par performances so far and have managed just nine points from the eight league games they have played which leaves them 13th in the table. The Spanish side have been very successful in Europe's second tier competition having won both the last two editions. It was their Europa League triumph last time out which has earned them a place in this season's Champions League and Jesus Navas who has represented Sevilla in the past has warned his teammates that Los Rojiblancos are keen to make their mark in the Champions League.

"I am very happy, seeing them grow year on year, keep doing well and now enjoying the Champions League - where they'll get to know themselves better," the 29-year-said.

"It pleases me a lot. I watch their matches on television."

"The truth is that it’s not easy to win the Europa League and, as I say, now it's another step for them and they will want to do something important."

Sevilla and Man City both have three points so far and are separated in the standings on goal difference only. The Citizens have performed well on the domestic front and have won two Premier League titles in the last four seasons. However during this period they have failed to have an impact in Europe's elite competition, unable to make it past the last 16. However Navas has claimed that Man City now boasts a very strong squad which can challenge for the Champions League title.

"We have to go step by step, calmly, but as I say there's a great team that can fight for that [the Champions League]."

Manuel Pellegrini will be without a number of key players for the all important match including the likes of Samir Nasri, Sergio Aguero and David Silva. Midfielder Fabian Delph as well as left backs Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy will also remain on the sidelines.

Sevilla on the other hand have doubts over the likes of Fernando Llorente and midfielder Luismi. Gael Kakuta, Sergio Escudero and Daniel Carrico on the other hand have been ruled out of the match.
