The Swiss exec issued a statement denying his participation in any illegal activity, following claims about a 'disloyal payment' to UEFA president Michel Platini.

Apparently, the captain refuses to leave the sinking ship. Despite what most experts predicted, FIFA president Joseph Blatter will not be stepping down as football's governing body main man, even if he's being investigated by Swiss authorities over a strange payment made to UEFA President Michel Platini, who is expected to succeed Blatter when he ends his term.

In a press release issued today, Blatter's attorneys revealed the Swiss exec returned to his office today, even having a word with staff members to assure them there's nothing to worry about.

“President Blatter spoke to FIFA staff today and informed the staff that he was cooperating with the authorities, reiterated that he had done nothing illegal or improper and stated that he would remain as president of FIFA,”the statement claims.

Blatter and Platini had a meeting with Swiss authorities on Friday in order to clarify a £1.35m payment made to the former French player in 2011. Blatter revealed that the payment was part of Platini's earnings as his advisor, even if his job ended back in 2002.

On the other hand, Platini also shared his thoughts about the matter in a letter to all of UEFA's football associations. The Frenchman stated that he decided to cooperate with Swiss authorities, revealing he was not forced to disclose any personal information he did not want to make public.
