AC Milan have had a mixed start to their new campaign under the tutelage of new head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. The Rossoneri are currently eighth in the league table having managed to notch nine points from their opening five games. They however have momentum on their side having won both of their last two matches by a 3-2 score line.
They were against Udinese last time out in a match which went to the wire after the hosts pulled two back following goals from Balotelli, Bonaventura and Cristian Zapata in the first half. Milan will now be aiming for a top three finish which can earn them a place back in the Champions League.
Former Chelsea defender Alex is confident that his side can make it to Europe's elite competition and has praised the team's performance against Udinese last time out.
"We are a strong team and next year we have to play in the Champions League," Alex told the club's official television channel. "We have to continue to grow.
"Against Udinese we did well in the first half and a little less well in the second. The coach has spoken to us and analysed the reasons for what happened in the second half to make sure it doesn't happen again.
"It was not an easy match and remember we lost at Friuli last year. I felt fine coming on, you always have to be ready. We have big competition in central defence but those of us who are outside always talk to those who are on the pitch.
"We are a team and we have to help each other - you win and lose together."
Genoa did a double over their counterparts on Sunday last season but have had a horrid start to the new season managing just a single win so far in league outings. They will be without striker Goran Pandev as well as Issa Cissokho who was slapped with a three match ban following his red card in the defeat at the hands of Lazio. Milan on the other hand are likely to be without Andrea Bertolacci whereas Luca Antonelli is expected to return.
