Two clubs looking to rediscover lost glory will go head to head in a much awaited encounter on Saturday. Both Manchester United and Liverpool have struggled in recent years and a victory for either side on Saturday could go a long way in deciding how the season pans out for them.

Despite of not having enjoyed much luck in a Man United shirt, captain Wayne Rooney became England's leading goal scorer after converting a penalty against Switzerland.

The Red Devils have not had much luck in front of the goal this season, but Spanish international Ander Herrera has refused to blame Wayne Rooney for the club's short comings and has stressed that every player must try to pitch in with goals.

"We don't have to give all the responsibility on scoring to Wayne or Anthony Martial," the 26-year-old said.

"We have to help. It is very important as a midfielder to score. We all have to help."

The Spaniard praised Rooney for his all-round skills and has claimed that when the Englishman is not scoring goals he is contributing in other aspects of the game.

Wayne is very important to us," he said.

"Normally the biggest stars, as Wayne Rooney is, are selfish but he is not. You saw that when he gave Chicharito [Javier Hernandez] the penalty in Bruges. We are very proud of him. We are lucky because he is with us.

"Most of the times he will score but when he doesn't he is helping the team and he is always fighting for the team. He runs for the rest of the team and he likes to provide assists. We are very lucky to have him."

Van Gaal however to address the lack of goals has signed highly rated French forward Anthony Martial who became the most expensive teenager in the game after his move from Monaco. The 19 year old is expected to achieve great things for club and country, however numbers show that Wayne Rooney was a better player at the same age.

Liverpool on the other hand suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham last time out and will be hoping to respond to that.

They will be without the services of Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho who received a red card in the match against the Hammers. Captain Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana on the other hand will have late fitness tests which will determine their inclusion in the squad.  Daniel Sturridge has returned to training for Liverpool, but Saturday's match might come too early for him.

David De Gea who has not been part of the Man United match day squad in any of the games this season is likely to return to the side. Michael Carrick however is a doubt after the former Tottenham man was withdrawn from international duty due to a calf injury.
