He had missed his last penalty kick with Manchester United. Argentina dominated in possession during the first half.

Javier Hernandez may have regained the confidence that he lost when he had missed a penalty kick against Club Brugee tonight against Argentina. Chicharito scored the goal that has Mexico leading the game 1-0 at halftime.

It was supposed to be a close match before the game started and that is what it turned out to be. Mexico was more dangerous even struggling to finish their plays. Argentina had a greater posession of the ball but could not get past the last line of mexican defenders.

Ricardo Ferretti sent his best men for this game. Mexico started with Moises Muñozon net, Rafael Marquez commanding the defense and the whole team as their captain and Chicharito up front waiting to get balls from Andres Guardado.

Javier Hernandez missed his first clear chance just minutes into the start of the game. The play was developed on the right side of the field and Guardado crossed it to Hernandez who failed to control the ball and it landed in Nahuel Guzman's hands.

Moments later, Raul Jimenez was one on one against Guzman but the referee signaled the penalty spot when Nicolas Otamendi fouled him inside the box. He was booked while some may think that a red card would not have been unfair.

While it wasn't clear about who would take the shot, Hernadez grabbed the ball. While he might have been thinking about the penalty that he missed with Manchester United, he felt it was a good chance for redemption. Hernandez sent it to the left side of Guzman who also dove that way but could not stop the ball.

Lionel Messi was initially expected to play no more than 30 minutes, but after Mexico grabbed the lead in the 19th minute, Gerardo Martino may have changed his mind. After 45 minutes, Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez are still on the field. Fernando Gago was the only one injured in the first half but he kept on playing.
