Di Maria only lasted one season with the Red Devils before leaving to PSG. He was named Player of the Month right at the beginning of his EPL career.

Angel di Maria had a successful debut with Paris Saint-Germain giving one assist in Paris Saint-Germain's 3-0 victory over Monaco. The result put a smile on Di Maria's face after a very rough year under the instructions of Louis van Gaal with Manchester United.

Di Maria had arrived in Old Trafford in the summer of 2014 after winning the Champions League title with Real Madrid. He signed a five-year contract expecting a similar result like the ones he had with Los Blancos. After a good first month in which he won the Player of the Month award, it all went downhill from there.

"I made a very good start and then I got injured. Things weren’t quite working for me and Van Gaal changed my position," Di Maria said in an interview with ESPN Radio.

Di Maria has it very clear why he left Manchester United

El Fideo struggled to regain Van Gaal's trust as the season went on. Game after game, Di Maria was losing minutes on the pitch and adding more and more watching games from the bench. At one point he lost his spot in the starting XI.

“It’s difficult to adapt to Van Gaal. I had a number of bust-ups with him,” Di Maria added. “Van Gaal has his philosophy and it is one of the reasons why I wanted to leave Manchester United."

By the time that summer came around, it was almost clear that Di Maria was not happy playing and living in Manchester. To make things worst, his home was burglarized towards the end of the season. He didn't like the coach, the city, nor the weather, so staying was probably not in his plans at that point.

When the season was over he headed home to play with Argentina in the Copa America. He had a regular performance over the course of the tournament. After the tournament he traveled back to Europe but Manchester was not his final destination.

Against Manchester United's will, Di Maria completed his medical exam in Qatar to sign with PSG. One day later, he was presented with his new club on August 6, 2015 with a four-year contract.
