The Belgian defender scored the game's only goal, defeating Los Boquerones for the first time in three games.

Barcelona struggled for almost three games to put the ball into the back of Malaga's net. Even though Barcelona's strikers tried so hard, but it had to be Thomas Vermaelen, a highly criticized player, who scored the game's only goal against Los Boquerones, leading Los Blaugranas to a 1-0 win.

Barcelona dominated most of the game, and even came close to scoring several times, but Carlos Kameni's display and a little bit of luck kept the scoreless draw.

When the game entered its final stages, Luis Suarez sent the ball into the box, and while Kameni failed to clear the ball, Vermaelen took the loose ball and drilled it into the back of the net.

Last season, Málaga was able to keep a clean sheet against Los Blaugranas in both games they played, even winning the second one with a 1-0 scoreline. Malaga accumulated 250 minutes without conceding a goal against Luis Enrique's side, but Kameni could not hold the ball and gave away the game.

Fans had mixed reactions after Vermaelen's goal. Some of them acknowledging his performance, while others shared jokes about it.
