Even after al the controversy surrounding their semi-final match against Panama, Mexico's coach Miguel Herrera believes El Tri deserves to win its seventh ever Gold Cup title. The flamboyant coach spoke about the final match where they will be facing Jamaica, letting fans and media know how he feels abouts the constant criticism his team has endured.
"Whether you like it or not, the results are there. I can't tell you if we deserve to be here or not because of what the referees did or not, but I'm sure every player here is convinced about our chances, despite all the controversy that surrounded our last game. We have to stay focused, win the Cup, and then we'll see what goes on with my bosses, which will decide what's best for the team," Herrera revealed.
Mexico's coach did not reveal his team's lineup as he normally does, since he was still struggling to put his Starting XI together after a few bans and some injuries. Apparently, Twente's Jesús Corona will be making a start for El Tri replacing Carlos Vela, who will be missing the final match after picking up his second yellow card against Panama.
This will be Mexico's eighth Gold Cup final under the current format. El Tri has won the tournament six times, and the only final match the team lost happened back in 2007, when the USMNT overcame an early goal by Andrés Guardado, one of Mexico's top performers in this Gold Cup edition.
