Paris Saint Germain will continue their preparations for the new season with a fixture against Italian side Fiorentina. They were against Benfica in their last outing, a match in which manager Laurent Blanc fielded a rather youthful side which triumphed against the defending Portuguese Champions.
Augustin continued his fine pre season form by opening up the scoring but Talisca soon equalized. Jonas added another for the Portuguese side to give them the lead but goals from Lucas as well as Digne ensured that the defending French champions recorded the victory.
PSG manager Laurent Blanc expressed his delight with the win and has hailed it as a confidence booster.
"This win has put a smile on our faces and given us a bit of confidence, especially for the young players," coach Blanc told reporters.
"It was a very young side. We played some good football in a very entertaining match against an excellent opponent. Benfica have some excellent footballers.
"After trailing, then coming back to 2-2 and then going and getting that winning goal, I think we can be very satisfied with our performance.
"The young players will remember this match very positively. Congratulations to the more experienced players as well, because they led the way."
Prior to their match against Benfica, PSG were also involved in a fixture against Austrian side Wiener SK in a match they won by a 3-0 score line.
Fiorentina on the other hand have not played competitive football in almost two months with their last match coming against fellow Italian side Chievo. Their task will be made even more difficult with PSG set to field some of their star players who were rested against Benfica.
The side has further been strengthened by the arrival of German goal keeper Kevin Trapp who sealed a move from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Capital side have further managed to retain key players including the likes of Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti, Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
La Viola did manage a top four finish in the Serie A and made good progress in the Europa League last season, but PSG might be too hot to handle for them.
