Panama makes it to the semi-final for the third time in a row. Penedo made two big saves in the penalty shootout including the game-clinching one.

A penalty shootout that seemed to go on forever ended when Jaime Penedo made a huge save, stopping a shot from Lester Peltier in what was the 9th round of the penalty shootout. Now Panama moves on to the semi-final of the 2015 Gold Cup.

The game ended with a 1-1 after 90 minutes. It was Luis Tejeda who scored the first one in the 34th minute of the first half. Kenwyne Jones tied it ten minutes into the second half with a great header. In the 30 minutes of extra time, no one was able to score so the game was to be decided with penalty kicks.

His club was excited to see Penedo's performance

In the penalty kicks shootout, it seemed like no one wanted to win. When one team had the chance to clinch its ticket to the next round, they would either miss it or have their shot saved by the opposing goalkeeper. Trinidad started winning but they missed some key opportunities to come out with a different outcome.

Blas Perez even scored by getting his shot in between the legs of the goalkeeper. Each goalkeepers saved two shots and Trinidad missed three, while Panama only got one outside the three posts. The game was decided in the 19th penalty kick when Penedo got his hand on the way of a shot by Lester Peltier.

Now, thanks to the L.A. Galaxy goalkeeper and his two saves during the penalty shootout, Los Canaleros are moving on to the semi-final. Panama finished as the runner-up last year and hope to either match or improve on that to win their first Gold Cup title.

Sheldon Bateau also got his shot stopped by Penedo in the second round of the penalty kicks. This 1(6)-1(5) win gives Panama the chance to play in next year's Copa America Centenario and it will be the third consecutive time that Los Canaleros make it to the semi-final of the Gold Cup.
