The Portuguese superstar has a buyout clause of one billion euros, an amount that would need the next five players on the list to cover.

Cristiano Ronaldo has something more to brag about before the season starts. Considered along with Lionel Messi as the best players in the world, the fee a team would have to pay for each of them does not necessarily reflect what they do on the pitch. In fact, as influential as these two footballers might be, their buyout clauses are far from being equal. At this moment in time, Cristiano Ronaldo's €1 billion clause is the highest in football, while Lionel Messi's second place gets to €250 million.

The list itself has a few facts worth mentioning. Seven of the first ten players either play for Real Madrid (3) or Barcelona (4), which shows how relevant these teams have become in the international scene. They were top clubs a few years ago, but now there is no player in the world that would not be interested in signing for them.

A fact that also stands out is that there are no players from any Premier League team. Being considered as the best league in the world, it is rather shocking that no footballer in England is included in this list. In fact, the only player included who doesn't perform in La Liga is Ryan Gauld from Sporting Lisbon.
