It's the first time Cuba has advanced to the second round in the Gold Cup. The United States made three changes to their roster after advancing.

The game between the United States of America and Cuba is special for more than what goes on the field. It is a game that can represent many things about CONCACAF but that will also join two nations that had been politically divided since the Cold War. While the U.S. has never been left out from the knock-out round in this tournament, it is the first time Cuba will play a fourth Gold Cup game in the same year.

Cuba did not have six of their players and their coach before their opening game against Mexico. They kept losing players as the days went by and even another player escaped the team's concentration the day of the game while he allegedly went out shopping. Cuba had nothing to lose all along in this tournament.

Their limitations were not exclusive of a shortage of players, but also the fact that in Cuba, soccer is one of the least followed sports and their team is not even valued in a million dollars with all its players combined. Cuba only had to score one goal to get into this round, and they did it to knock Guatemanala o¡ut of the Cup.

The small island of Cuba does not even hold a chance to qualify for the 2018 World Cup anymore as Curazao eliminated them in the first round of the qualifiers. Players in Cuba don't get paid much for doing what they do and they can still celebrate finishing third in Group C after receiving eight goals in the first two games.

They might be a team that lacks off clear ideas on how to play soccer, but their heart and desire to do impressive things could be evidenced in the game against. What they did against Guatemala in Charlotte was something even bigger that the island itself. They are into the Quarter-Finals for the first time ever.

United States is the clear favorite to win this game. They are the favorite team to defend their title and qualify automatically to the 2017 Confederations Cup in Rusia. The way any of the three big teams in CONCACAF have been playing, leaves a lot to the imagination and really makes us question if the U.S. can cruise to victory.

They suffered in all of their games but now have a team that looks even easier than the previous three on paper. A team that Mexico beat 6-0, while even missing at least four other clear chances. The U.S.is far from being the team that defeated Germany and Netherlands on the road, but going back to basics can make them deliver the goods.

Jurgan Klinsmann's team scored four goals and received three after three games. They never seemed comfortable with how the game was being played and were even dominated by Haiti in their second game during most of the match. While the German manager called on veterans to defend their title, the team is not looking as sharp as it did with rookies in the past friendly games after the World Cup.

Jozy Altidore along with Greg Garza and Alfredo Morales were sent home after the first round of the tournament. Klinsmann called Alan Gordon, Damarcus Beasley and Joe Corona to replace them. The tournament rules allow for these changes as the three new players were part of the preliminary list given to the organizers.

Cuba has been able to defeat the U.S. in one game out of the ten they have played. The Yanks have a 8-1-1 record against Cuba in head to head matches. The U.S. also holds an undefeated record in the last nine games of the competition, where they only allow one goal at the most. That was also all Cuba needed to make it this far.
