United States has won five Gold Cup titles and could clinch a Confederations Cup ticket. Haiti is the worst ranked team in this group according to FIFA (76).

The 2015 Gold Cup is about to begin and that means the United States wants to defend their title despite any threats from other countries that may be above or below them in the FIFA World Rankings. In order to think about winning the tournament, they must get past Haiti, Honduras and Panama in Group A.

United States

The United States Men's National Team is favorite in this group and they have made themselves heard by winning their past three preparation games against Netherlands, Germany and Guatemala. They only used the current Gold Cup roster for the game against Guatemala but the morale of the whole nation is sky high with those wins. The return of Clint Dempsey and Graham Zusi promises a lot for Jurgen Klinsmann squad.

The Yanks aim to win the tournament in order to clinch a spot in the 2017 Confederations Cup. Instead of calling a young squad, like Klinsmann had done in the past games, he feels that experience can help his squad deal with the emotions of big games on the line. He has called most of the players that helped the U.S. succeed in the 2014 World Cup, where they were not intimidated by anyone.

Panama

Panama will find itself with the possibility of taking revenge against the United States for two reasons. The first one, it was the USMNT that knocked them out of the World Cup with a last minute goal by Zusi, which gave life to Mexico simultaneously. A goal that vanished the dreams of a whole nation at their own home. The other one, it was the U.S. who beat Panama in 2013 final with a goal from Brek Shea at Chicago's Soldier Field.

For this tournament, Panama does not seem to be in such great shape, but they are a team that likes to fight for every ball.  Gabriel Torres was the 2013 Gold Cup top scorer, and he has been called back to help his team two years later. Blas Perez from FC Dallas is another of the must-watch players in Hernan Gomez' roster. They have never won the tournament, but in their mind that is always a possibility if they play at their best.

FW – Abdiel Arroyo (Arabe Unido/Panama); Rolando Blackburn (Comunicaciones/Guatemala); Roberto Nurse (Dorados Sinaloa/Mexico); Blas Perez (FC Dallas/USA); Luis Tejada (Juan Aurich/Peru); Gabriel Torres (Colorado Rapids/USA)

Haiti

The small nation of Haiti will be making its sixth appearance in this tournament. They are one of the most underrated teams in the competition, which is normally not expected to go past the group stage. They have proved many people wrong by reaching the quarter-finals twice in the past. They know they are the underdogs based on their history and their ranking. FIFA has them in 76th spot, just below Honduras.

In 2014, the responsibility of writing a new chapter in the history of Hati's soccer, fell on the shoulders of Marc Collat, a coach with European experience that would like to see this french colony rise from the rubble and into greatness in this tournament. If any team wants to score on Haiti, they must get past Johny Placide, who recently was named one of the best goalkeepers in the French league, helping Reims stay in the top flight.

FW – Kervens Belfort (Ethnikos Achnas/Cyprus); Jean Eudes Maurice (Nea Salamis Famagusta/Cyprus); Duckens Nazon (Stade Lavallois/France)

Honduras

Honduras finished third during the 2013 Gold Cup and they want to improve on it to finish with the hegemony of either United States, Mexico or Canada as the winners of this tournament. Their three losses in last summer's World Cup should not be an indicator of where this team stands in the football world. They are a nation that under the guidance of a new manager, with a great curriculum like Jorge Luis Pinto, can aim high.

Pinto was the man that guided Costa Rica to the quarter-finals in the World Cup and that now has Los Ticos standing in the top-20 of the FIFA Rankings. Los Catrachos dream of getting up there and Pinto believes he has what it takes. They just tied against Mexico, but have only won two games out of eight this year. In Andy Najar, who plays for Anderlecht in Belgium, lie the hopes of a nation to repeat their 1981 championship win.
