Argentina looks at this title as a redemption for losing the World Cup final last summer. They have won 14 Copa America titles and could tie Uruguay's 15 titles.

Argentina is looking for its 15th Copa America title and it will do so aganst a nation that is hosting the tournament, Chile. La Albiceleste is currently ranked third in the world and aims to validate its ranking as the best team in South America. Ever since their second place in the World Cup, Argentina has been unstoppable.

The team managed by Gerardo Martino is the one that has hosted the continental championship the most times (9). When they have played at home in the tournament, they have won it five times. The last time that happened was in 1959 against Brazil.

In 1942 they faced Uruguay in the final and Los Charruas were the host nation of that tournament, that up until that year was played every year or two. That was the first time that they played against a team that was organizing the tournament and they lost 1-0 to win its eighth Copa America title.

13 years later, in 1955 they played the same team they will be facing this Saturday. 60 years ago Chile has a shot at crowning itself in front of their crowd at Estadio Nacional but Rodolfo Micheli, the leading scorer of the tournament (8), scored the only goal of the game and Chile's chances to celebrate at home vanished.

In 1967, the tournament was once again hosted by Uruguay and Argentina felt this was some sort of revenge from what happened in 1942. They once again fell short from adding one more title to their trophy room and the championship was won by the home side with a goal from Pedro Rocha 1-0 at the Centenario Stadium.

Argentina was a dominant force in this tournament for many years, but their magic seems to have vanished. They were, along with Chile, one of the four teams with which the Copa America started in 1916. They have not been able to win a title since 1993, when they beat Mexico 2-1 with a brace from Gabriel Batistuta.

In the end, Argentina has only won one of its 14 titles against the host nation of a Copa America. The good news is that it happened against the same team they are facing this Saturday and at the exact same venue. Lionel Messi has not won a major title with Argentina, this could be his big chance and the Argentinian fans would really like to see that happen. Chile would like to take revenge for the damage caused in 1955.
