Messi currently has three assists and is the leader of the competition. Argentina has scored 10 goals in five games.

Lionel Messi has reached a second final with Argentina and while his lack of goals worries outsiders, within La Albiceleste that is not a concern. Gerardo Martino is happy with the team advancing to the final against Chile, which was a main objective.

In the game against Paraguay, which Argentina won 6-1, La Pulga did not score but tallied three assists. That makes him the leader of the Copa America in that department.

"He got three assists [against Paraguay], there's no problem. He doesn't seem worried to me, he seems happy,” Martino said. “He doesn't need to be the team's goal scorer to be happy".

Sergio Aguero is the leading scorer for Argentina with three goals. He is just one behind Eduardo Vargas in the top scoring list of the continental tournament. Argentina has scored 10, and their upcoming rival has 13.

Messi agreed with El Tata that he was not disappointed with not scoring more than the one goal he has so far. The leading scorer for Barcelona in La Liga hopes that the best version of him could be in display against Chile.

"Hopefully I've saved my goals for the final, but it doesn't matter who scores,” Messi mentioned. We've got to another final after doing so at the World Cup and we want to win this one".
