Lionel Messi must be very careful when he steps into the pitch today, since he will be under the spotlight for more than one reason. The Argentinean striker was carded during the team's previous match against Colombia, and one more yellow card would keep him away from playing the tournament's final match. Other players in such a predicament are Sergio Agüero and Javier Mascherano.
Messi's form during the tournament has not been quite as expected, since the Argentine has scored only one goal in five games for La Albiceleste. Furthermore, he has been a little over the top when directing himself to the referees, something that was not tolerated by the Mexican ref from last game.
His booking against Colombia raised some eyebrows, since there was apparently no foul on the play.

Fans are thinking there must be something "planned" to avoid Messi from playing the final...if Argentina makes it through.
Bear in mind Messi, Mascherano and Agüero are one yellow card away from missing the final, if they progress.

A Brazilian ref has now been appointed for the Arg match. Messi and Mascherano are 1 yellow card from missing the final. Can't make this up

That Aguero and Messi are going to get a yellow card tonight is as obvious as the water being wet

The Messi Yellow Card theory better explained:
The game's referee will be Sandro Ricci, the same one that missed the Gonzalo Jara incident and decided to send off Edinson Cavani.
