The USWNT will kick off a tough group stage by battling against Australia on Monday, June 8th. Here are some live TV listings & online streaming options for USA vs. Australia.

In a bit over 24 hours, the USWNT will commence their seventh World Cup campaign as they take the first of three sides in their quartet. With Australia, Sweden, and Nigeria for company, Group D has been already described as the "Group of Death" by pundits due to the wealth of talent afforded by these four teams and despite the Stars and Stripes being heavy favourites to progress, their route to the knockout rounds will not be easy.

Australia have appeared in six World Cup tournaments and the Matildas have made it to the quarter-finals on two occasions, in 2007 and 2011. Under coach Alen Stajcic, who took over in 2014, they finished second in the AFC Women's Championship behind 2011 World Cup winners Japan and have used a variety of formations when taking on teams like China, New Zealand, and Switzerland.

They are currently ranked tenth in the world as per FIFA's most recent rankings and have quite a few players who can cause the USWNT a bit of worry, both on the offensive and defensive front.

Under Stajcic, the Australians have adopted a counter-attacking style of football that is both risky and efficient

Despite being classed as underdogs, players like midfielders Elise Kellond-Knight, Tameka Butt, as well as captain and star striker Lisa De Vanna, who was a 2013 Puskas Award nominee all have the experience and tactical nous to cause their opponents a bit of worry, despite the Australians losing 4-0 in their last meeting with the USA back in 2013.

In terms of head to head record, the USA enjoy the vastly historical advantage, with 22 wins and two draws and have scored 83 times versus Australia's 20. However, over the past two decades, the gap, at least in terms of rankings between the two sides has narrowed considerably. Since missing out on the first World Cup in 1991, Australia have qualified for every single one and have seen their overall performances improve as a result.

USWNT fans will be very concerned, though, about the situation surrounding star forward Alex Morgan, who has been struggling with a knee injury since last month that caused her to miss out on friendlies with the Republic of Ireland and Mexico. She was nonetheless included in the 23-woman squad to feature in Canada, but given her importance to the team, as well as the fact that the USA will have to play seven matches if they wish to win their third title, it will be interesting to see if Jill Ellis opts to give her some gametime against Australia, or opts to rest her with a very tough match against Sweden coming up on the horizon.

A frustrating 0-0 draw with South Korea in their last friendly will have rattled some nerves, especially given how they easily cruised past New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, and Mexico in their recent games, outscoring their opponents by 12 goals to one. As a result, they will be keen on getting back on track and quelling some of those concerns some may have about their ability to get up and running at the showpiece event this summer.

Indeed, as they seek their first World Cup title since that famous day 16 years ago, the USWNT are ready to rock-and-roll:

Will Australia be able to cause an upset? Or will the USA start things off right with a win tomorrow evening? Tune in to find out!
