Real Madrid's president and Bale's agent met to weigh out the options. The club has not received significant bids for the 25-year-old player.

Gareth Bale is closer to staying with the club than leaving anywhere else after Florentino Perez and Jonathan Barnett (Bale's agent) met to discuss the future of the Welshman. His future for at least one more season lies in the Spanish capital.

Florentino was clear right off the bat that he was not wanting Bale out of the team for two reasons. It is still a long shot to get a profitable sale on the 25-year-old attacking midfielder. Besides that, the player does have a spot reserved on the team for next year.

"We remain confident in Bale. There is no motion (to sell),” Perez said.

Barnett cleared rumours about how much Manchester United had already offered for the Welshman. It was €65m, the highest bid up to date but still far from the €100m-plus bids many outlets reported and the club expects to receive on their investment.

The Cardiff Express has had a turbulent season on and off the pitchGareth Bale has had his ups and downs with Real MadridMadrid is not in a comfortable position to sell the Cardiff native. They bought him for a record transfer fee sum of  €94m. It is a price that may have stayed strong after his first year but his performances this season were below expectations. He still has four years left in his contract which expires in the summer of 2019.

The contract was valued in €101m over those six seasons. So far he should have received €33.2m and still €69m left for him to receive by the time his contract runs out.

Florentino would like to keep the Welshman and give him time to show the fans why he spent so much for the former Tottenham player. With the European Championship around the corner, Bale's agent and his president feel that the player could find the extra motivation to resemble the amount spent on him.
