Estudiantes and Liga de Quito will once again take on each other to lift America's most challenging title.

The final match of the season will have an Argentinean and an Ecuadorian representative. Liga obtained a decisive victory 2-1 two weeks ago as local but will now have to travel to La Plata, where the Pinchas will be waiting to lean the score on their side. Estudiantes is fighting toe-to-toe with Velez Sarsfield and Arsenal at the top of Argentina's Apertura, while Liga is the undisputed leader of Ecuador's league. Watch out for Hernan Barcos, Liga's most prolific striker.

Last resort

Paton Bauza is worried by this week's trip to Argentina, as numerous Liga's players are struggling with different injuries. The things that should worry Liga's manager the most is the defense, as team's classic three-man line back line might not be enough to stop Estudiantes, shall their fittest strikers be ready to perform. Team's coach believes a strong offense is the best defense, but Liga's strikers are also experiencing major physical inconveniences; Barcos might not be within the starting eleven and Miller Bolaños is caught into a disciplinary problem of consequences yet unknown.

The Pinchas, on the other hand, are slowly healing from their wounds. Hernan Rodrigo Lopez and Gabriel Peñalba were seen training regularly during the week and might have a shot within the starting squad. Alejandro Sabella want his players to be 100% ready to return to perform regularly and won't risk their recovery for this match. Estudiantes' coach has been experimenting with different formations during the last weeks, and the defensive 5-3-2 scheme used against Godoy Cruz last week proved to be rather strong; the extra pressure from the wings gave Juan Sebastian Veron more space to create and his interaction with Rodrigo Braña and Enzo Perez are feared by every rival.

Having scored a goal on foreign ground, Estudiantes will need to keep its goal shut to make it easier the lifting of the title. Team's goalkeeper Cesar Taborda might not be providing the needed security between the posts, but Sabella's back line is enough to stop most of the offenses on itself. The goalkeeper was seen practicing penalty shoots, as that might be the way in which the cup is to be won.

Liga's striker Carlos Luna is one of the players that knows the most about his rival this week, due to his long time experience in Argentina's football. His partner for this clash will most likely be Walter Calderon, unless Pirate's Barcos recovers on time. Neicer Reasco and Paul Ambrosi will lead the advance from the wings, playing a decisive role to break Estudiantes' tight back line.

Estudiantes' captain and legend Juan Sebastian Veron believes their rival might have an edge due to the first match, but the advantage of playing home the last match was highlighted as equally important. This might be the last competition for Veron, who will be looking forward to add another title to his vast show case.
