Antonin Panenka knows many have tried to emulate what he did in the 1976 European Championship final from the spot. For the creator of such gutsy shot, none of the attempts have been better than Lionel Messi’s against Getafe.

Zinedine Zidane is widely remembered for trying it in the 2006 World Cup Final against Italy. The shot went in but Panenka was not impressed. Francesco Totti gave it a go but was unsuccessful in a game with Roma.
