France’s national anthem ‘La Marseillaise’ has often been the cause of controversy among the French football team.

France players lined up as national anthem is being performed by artist before a match. But as Les Bleus try to restore the pride they lost in South Africa, Coach Laurent Blanc has urged his team to sing the song with pleasure in the name of France’s national team jerseys. As he was interviewed by Reuters, the boss revealed:

“I have personally encouraged players to sing ‘La Marseillaise’. I was sure that some of them didn’t know the words,” Laurent Blanc, who gave a copy of the lyrics to each player, added.

“I think that everyone knows the words to sing it. However, everyone is free to do what they want. But, they are aware of my opinion. I think it’s preferable to sing the song.

“As for me, I don’t have many opportunities to sing ‘La Marseillaise’. I have to admit that I don’t sing it under the shower.

“But, when you are representing your country, I think it is a pleasure to sing it.”

Passion and determination will certainly push France to commence their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign with a victory against Belarus on Friday. Much concentration and accuracy in terms of performance should also help them live up to expectations.
