Barcelona will be hoping to end Liga de Quito's unbeaten run as they prepare to take on Ecuador's second best team this season later today. The Toreros, who are the nation's must successful team with a record 14 league titles, have not enjoyed a successful campaign as of late and recently suffered disappointment as they were dumped out of the Copa Libertadores by Estudiantes this past Tuesday.

LDU are currently the only undefeated side in Ecuadorian football's top flight this season

Despite the setback, Ruben Israel's men still feel that they can redeem their season as they seek their first domestic crown since 2012.

"The most important thing for us is to maintain our concentration and do things right at this stage in the championship," goalkeeper Maximo Banguera noted when asked about his team's objectives.

"[But] everything will depend on us. Our goal is to finish top and win this stage [of the competition]. Only those who are mediocre gives up [at this point] and we want to give our all because it is a huge honor to defend the shirt of a big team like Barcelona."

Barcelona are looking to bounce back after a frustrating loss to Estudiantes in cup action five days ago

For defender Diego Calderon, it will be a special match as he prepares to take on his former club, and the significance of this is not lost on the 28-year-old Ecuadorian international:

"Liga de Quito is a complicated team [to play against] who tries to keep things tight, but we have players that can break down any defenses," he analysed.

"And it's always a huge motivation to play against your ex-club."

Meanwhile, LDU coach Luis Zubeldía will attempt to maintain his team's excellent record sans the services of some key personnel. Both Enrique Vera and Narciso Mina will not be available and the latter's absence will be keenly felt as he has netted seven times for his new club.

Additionally, Mina, who was part of Barcelona's title-winning squad back in 2012 will not have the chance to take to the pitch against his former team where he scored 30 times and was crowned the league's top scorer.

Barcelona have a pretty good record when it comes to welcoming the Azucenas to their home ground. The last time they suffered defeat was on October 27, 2011, when LDU, despite falling a goal and a man behind inside the first 20 minutes, were able to not only claw their way back into the game but also snatch the win with a goal in the last moments of the game.

Since then, they have won four out of their last six meetings. Will they make it five in seven? Or will the visitors manage to maintain their status as Ecuador's sole undefeated team this term?
