What do Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Cavani, Silva, and Lavezzi have in common? They're all from South American, and will all set the UCL quarter-finals alight.

On Wednesday, Champions League football continues with a mouth-watering clash between European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona. Two sides with substantial chances of lifting the trophy, the Ligue 1 champions and La Liga leaders will both look to secure an advantage over their opponents ahead of the return leg, at Camp Nou.

An array of talents will be on display at the Parc des Princes, but it will be the South American sensations who will set the quarter-final tie alight.

First name to come to mind, of course, is Lionel Messi. The four-time Ballon d'Or winner is this season's second-highest goalscorer, on level tally with Cristiano Ronaldo at eight. One ahead is Shakhtar Donetsk ace Luiz Adriano.

Given that the Ukrainian side are out of the tournament, and that Ronaldo failed to score on Tuesday against Atletico, the Argentine has a golden opportunity to pull away from the rest of the pack and take top spot should he find the back of the net.

That should not be tricky given that La Pulga has made a habit of scoring past Les Parisiens. In the two clubs' last four meetings in the Champions League, he has scored in all but once occasion, netting three times past Salvatore Sirigu.

However, Messi will not be alone. Leo will have two capable comrades alongside him in the form of his MSN striking partners Neymar and Luis Suarez. The two have a combined goalscoring tally of seven, four for the Uruguayan and two for the Brazilian.

Both the former Santos and Liverpool stars found the back of the net when PSG and Barcelona met in the group stage, and they will be looking to repeat this feat in Wednesday's encounter.

Onto PSG, and in the absence of Swedish talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Laurent Blanc's crew will look at his deputy Edinson Cavani to fill his shoes.

No disrespect to the Uruguayan striker, what a world-class deputy he is. The former Napoli man has found it difficult to overcome Zlatan's shadow, and thus relishes the opportunity to play down the middle without the 33-year-old.

Barcelona look most likely to deploy Marc-Andre ter Stegen in between the sticks, and the German custodian must be wary of Cavani and the threat he poses, having conceding to the former Napoli ace.

Cavani has six goals to his name in the Champions League, and eight back in France, but will be looking to add to that tally and prove he is worthy of the lone striker role.

Edinson Cavani, PSG, Ligue 1

Off from Uruguay and onto Argentine, and Laurent Blanc has Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore, two players who have been criticized this season for inconsistency.

The clash with the Blaugrana is a win-win situation for the two Argentines given they both feature. The match will either hand them a shot at proving to the coach their worth to the squad, or show to interested parties that they can perform on the big stage.

Then there are Javier Mascherano, Dani Alves, Lucas Moura, Thiago Silva and David Luiz, though unlikely to feature, who we are yet to mention. In other words, so many South American talents, too little words-per-article limit to describe them.
