Euro 2012 qualifying, match-day one: Andorra vs Russia. That should be yet another one-sided affair. What else do you expect but three points in the bag for the Russians?

Russia's Arshavin and ZyryanovAndorra’s history tells it all. The country played competitive matches over competitive matches during the last decade, but nothing positive ever presented itself to the team and the fans. Goals are few and far between; Andorra aren’t only poor in attack, but dreadful in defense. Victories can be counted; only Albania, Belarus and Macedonia each fell once in Andorra’s pit.

Well, it actually looks like the country is far from being a threat to others. Thinking about qualifying for Euro 2012 would certainly be unrealistic – especially as long as Group B favorites Russia aren’t willing to succumb to any more upsets. The Russians were so close from reaching the 2010 FIFA World Cup but they got stunned by minnows Slovenia in the play-off.

Why would they seat back once more and experience the biggest shock by getting anything less than a win against Andorra on Friday night? Of course, Russia are poised to sink Andorra into another nightmare. Friday will only mark the beginning of both teams’ Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. Now the table’s favorites, Russia, have been tipped to go all the way to Poland-Ukraine. In their step-by-step mission, the Russians’ first task is to go past Andorra.
