Spain has not lost its last 29 games at home in European competition. Ukraine has won its past three games without conceding a goal.

Spain is ready to host Ukraine in one more round of qualifying action toward the Euro 2016 on Friday. The two teams are tied in second place of Group C with nine points with a goal differential favoring La Furia. Slovakia leads the group with 12 units.

Spain just got knocked out off the top 10 in the FIFA Rankings for the first time since 2007. The team has had it’s up and downs in the last four games. First it lost against Slovakia, then won against Luxembourg and Belarus, but the recent World Cup champion, Germany, beat Spain at the end of the year.

Ukraine also lost against Slovakia but has racked up three wins since then. Belarus, Luxembourg and Macedonia have not been able to stop Mykhaylo Fomenko’s team but Spain, at least on paper is a much harder team to beat.

Vicente del Bosque’s side has a historical advantage over the opposing side. In the last three times these to teams have met, Spain has won twice and finished with one draw.

Probably the worst news for Spain is not counting with Diego Costa. The Chelsea forward had already reported for duty when the medical staff sent him back to London for treatment on his hamstring. The good news is they hold a record of 29 straight wins in European competition when playing at home.

Both teams have not conceded a goal in their last two games of Euro Qualifying action. There will be an interesting duel going on both nets between Andriy Pyatov and Iker Casillas.

Up front, Pedro and Alvaro Morata should find a way to beat Pyatov. Spain has scored seven goals in its last two games. Having home crowd advantage and the Sanchez Pizjuan in Sevilla should motivate la Furia enough to win this game.
